Abstract:Based on the investigation on the workability of macro mono steel fibers and macro hybrid fibers reinforced self-compacting concrete, the main purpose of this paper is the analysis of the influence of SF and hybrid fiber with various contents on the ultimate shear load and shear strength as well as failure mode of RC beams. The results of this experiment study indicate that hybrid fibers can evidently enhance the ultimate shear load and shear strength. The addition of hybrid fibers in adequate contents can change the failure mode of a brittle shear failure into a ductile flexural mechanism. The mechanical behavior of the RC beam with hybrid fibers is much better than that with mono-steel fibers. The combination of hybrid fibers and stirrups illustrates synergistic response and indicates an optimal choice of reinforcement for SCC members. The σ-w design method can be suitable for predicting the ultimate shear load with shear reinforcement and/or containing hybrid fibers.
